First Sea Otter News
We had a great week! We began learning about the Rosary, identifying and creating equal parts in two-dimensional shapes and wrapping up our grasslands habitat unit with a watercolor scene. Students also gave their best effort on the MAP test this week. We are so proud of all the progress they have made this year!
Habitat Project Information
This week the first graders picked their habitats. Now they are ready to begin their project. The first task is to fill out the green Habitat-Planning Sheet by MONDAY, May 20. Check the attached list (homework) to know what habitat your child is studying. Your planning sheet needs to be approved by your teacher. For example, if a student chooses a dolphin, it would be not be approved because there are too many types of dolphins. If a student chooses a spinner dolphin it will be approved. Please do not begin research or building your habitat until you get the approval from your teacher! Please keep the pink TO DO list at home. It gives important due dates and goals to help keep your child on track for the project
Spring Sing Concert:
The primary spring concert will be Tuesday, May 21st at 6:00pm in Egan Hall. Please dress up in Spring Concert Attire, for example: dresses, skirts, boys should wear a shirt with a collar (uniform shorts ok too). 1st and 2nd graders please meet in your classroom between 5:40-5:45 pm. Please email Mrs. Tsagalakis if your child is not able to join us for the concert. email@example.com
Friday, June 14th the first grade is headed to the Brackett’s Landing in Edmonds for a Ranger Beach Walk at low tide. The walk will be from 9:45-10:30am. We will also eat lunch there after the walk. Permission slips will be sent home next week. The complete field trip should be from about 9:00am-12:30pm. We are still in need of a few more chaperones; please let me know if you would like to come! Please don’t order Hot Lunch this day!
Jog-A-Thon Art Contest:
All students grades PK-7 are encouraged to submit artwork to Señor Pablo or the school office by Friday, May 31st. Two designs will be chosen to represent the 2019 Jog-a-thon (t-shirt and poster). Winners will receive a Scrip card of their choice for $25!
